I always knew that I wanted to try to breastfeed my children.  while I was pregnant with Parker, i would hear about all of these lactation recipes + cookies + teas, so naturally, I got a little paranoid about my supply!!  I knew there were certain foods that you could eat to help.

while I was blessed with an oversupply with both my kids, I obviously wanted to make sure I was filling my body with the best foods so that would be passed on to my babes as well.

Parker was born in January, so it was cold!  I’ve always been a big fan of oatmeal, so I created what I call, Vegan Superfood Oatmeal.  great for anyone but perfect for breastfeeding moms as oats have been shown to boost your milk supply.

I just put everything in a pot and heat it on the stove (adding the nuts at the end).

 

for 1 serving (although sometimes, I’ll make a big batch to have throughout the week):1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 1/4 cup milk (I add more as it cooks if it looks too dry)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp black raspberry powder (secret superfood!)
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
  • sprinkle of coconut flakes
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds (sometimes I leave these out if I add them to my shake that day)
  • handful of walnuts on top

voila! super yum, super filling, super good for you and babe!
